I am the first counselor in my Ward's Relief Society, which means I'm the "Education Counselor". One of my responsibilities is to oversee the teachers. I just lost my fourth sunday teacher since she's moving, and I was so sad to hear it. But...the lesson must go on so I took over for this month until we get a replacement. Well this month's 4th Sunday lesson came from Gordon B. Hinckley's talk, "Slow to Anger".
Fitting since I do have a bit of a temper.
Anyway, one of the ways to curb a temper and reduce your anger is to replace it with encouragement or finding things to be grateful for. I usually have a pretty good reign on my temper when at work, but can easily blow up at family or friends. I hate that. I want to stop it.
But wanting to change my behvaior is not enough. There are a lot of things I want to do this upcoming year and continue for the rest of my life. I must say that teaching that lesson really brought to mind what I have and what I'm severely lacking.
Basically I need to follow the old adage...practice what you preach. And since it is the time of year to make New Year's resolutions I've decided on a few to work on for 2009. And...I'm telling you all this so that I'm accountable. I can't get out of it if other people know. So here it goes:
1) I will control my temper with family and friends. And by "control" I mean stopping before I start yelling, using a nicer tone when frustrated and not jumping to conclusions. And by "family" I just mean my husband since I am the worst to him. And by "friends" I mean those who really upset me on a regular basis. (The rest of you are fine!) :)
2) I will lose weight in 2009. Why this common resolution? Because I am over weight, it's not healthy and most importantly...my High School reunion is in 2010 and I am NOT showing up looking the way I am! Plus, I need to be super fit for Disneyworld 2010!!!!!!
3) I will have a house by the end of 2009. We love where we're living at....we hate paying rent. It feels like you're throwing away your money since the home will never be yours! I want to find somewhere to live that will be ours, that I can re-do and touch up and all that stuff. I want a yard so I can have a dog! I want lots of rooms so I can have all my friends visit any time. I want an at-home-theater since i cannot live without my movies! I probably won't be able to get all of that by the end of 2009....especially the way the econonmy is headed...but I can at least get a home.
4) I will graduate in December with my masters. I've been going back and forth about this goal for a while. I have the option to graduate in 2010...and it's tempting since I wouldn't have to stress, I could take my time, so on and so on. But...I've decided that December of 2009 is best for me. So I have to work hard, I'm no stranger to that. So I don't have the money, I'm no stranger to that either! It'll work out.
I hope all of you come up with your own resolutions and publicize them so that you're accountable! Hopefully I have a post in December saying that I accomplished all of this! :)

On November 21st I was inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society. There was a banquet and a ceremony at U.H. that my family and I went to. For those of you who don't know what Golden Key is, it's basically an Honor Society that is by invitation only for academic achievement. The good thing about being a member is that I'll have free job placement and scholarship monies to finish school.

These are awards Golden Key has recieved from doing active community work and helping members succeed in school and future jobs.

Tagged by Lia
Okay, so according to this tag I'm supposed to choose the 6th picture in the 6th folder and the 4th picture in my 4th folder, post it, and embarass myself about what I have on this laptop.
(I added the last part)
This is a picture of me and my mom at my awards ceremony. I was accepted into Golden Key International Honour Society that I'll go into more detail in a later post. Anyway, it's me and my mommy!
Here's the 4th picture in the 4th folder
This is a picture of me, with my long hair, at Disneyland. We got the wheel chair for my dad and he was using the bathroom. I decided to take advantage of that and take a break from the lines. Rabici decided to take advantage of this by taking my picture while I wasn't looking. Grrrr.
I tag...Nia, Kaytee, Jaici, Tia, Carol, and Elizabeth!

Turkey day
He's so happy!

The High priest and Elders Quorum. a.k.a. the "old guys"

The young men.
That blue tarp in the background is where I stayed during the game. And in case you're wondering...the old guys won 30 something to 17. Sorry young men...better luck next year!

Twilight Party pics
All of us outside of Bucca di beppo. I'm glad the food was better than the movie! If you can't read my shirt it says "Real men prefer mountain lions". As you can see I'm Team Edward.
Selena replacing Bella. She's a better sub in my opinion
All of us after the movie.

SHE who must not be named OR Why I hate Twilight the movie
I've been getting phone calls, text messages and questions from some of you asking me about Twilight. Yes, I went to the Twilight movie on Friday. Yes, I made a big deal out of it and was really looking forward to it. NO I didn't like it, NO it wasn't good and Yes...I'm upset. I'm so mad at that the director that she is the equivalent of Harry Potter's LORD VOLDEMORT and is not allowed to be named...ever. I'm actually upset about a lot of things so I guess its easier to list them here so I can gather my thoughts properly.
First of all I'm upset at the effort I put in to making sure no one spoiled my Twilight buzz. I didn't listen to my husband who had no interest in anything related to, mentioning or refering to Twilight. I ignored all the people who said it was going to suck and put together a whole party just to showcase it! We got together to make shirts and go to the movie and organized a dinner. All that was fun... the being together and eating together; everything else sucked. I'm definetly mad at the effort I put into it.
Second, it was NOTHING like the book! I wasn't expecting it to be dead on; i had seen scenes that were not in the book but in the trailer. I was okay with that. I know movies are very rarely exactly like the book. But this movie...I want to kill, rip, tear, and beat the director. What was she thinking?! She messed up practically every scene in the movie! Did she even read the book?
1) What was up with the Biology class scene? Why is he holding his nose like she just farted and it smelled bad?
2)Where was all the dialogue between them in the restraunt? Edward says a few sentences about sex, money and a cat and that's it! That scene is where you find out how Edward can read minds, and you learn about vampires and his family.
3) What was up with that field trip to the nature whatever?! I understand having to edit certain scenes but adding things that never happened and make no sense in the plot!!!! What was that?!
4) Wasn't Victoria supposed to have red hair?
5) Why are Charlie and Bella eating out? They never ate out. That was one of the things that defined Bella; her role as a parent to Renee and taking care of Charlie with the cooking. She didn't cook in any of the scenes!
6)Isn't Jacob supposed to be an indian, born and raised on the reservation? If you're going to make a non-native american look native american, can you please look at some pictures! Jacob's hair looks like it was pasted ontop of his head and then blow dried at the bottom. And he spoke like an English guy (Thanks Channy for pointing that out to me) I laughed every time I saw him; he looked stupid.
7) AND THEN, the piece de resistance! THEY CUT OUT THE MEADOW SCENE!!!!!!. Hello!!!! Key scene in the book, turning point of the story, cut out and for what?!!!! The meadow is where Edward FINALLY makes the decision to love Bella instead of ripping her throat out. It's when they actually get together! Not to mention the fact that Stephanie Meyer had a dream about a vampire and a girl talking in the meadow and that's how Twilight got started! It's the best part in the book and it's gone! And what did we replace it with? Edward jumping through the trees like some Tarzan wanna-be whose glittering body looks like my 6 year old niece smeared him with lip gloss. And then he and Bella end up on the ground lying side by side with music in the background like a Korean soap opera! What??!!
Third thing I hated about this movie...the acting. It was atrocious, horrible, corny, stupid, and insulting. Rob Pattinson, here's a clue: To be "mesmerizing" doesn't mean you force your eyes to be the size of Texas. It means you're supposed to be alluring and invite people in, flirt a little. Kristen, here's an acting clue as Bella: Talk faster! Bella was observant not mentally retarded. Every scene Kristen just stands there either baffled or upset. Bella had more of an emotional range than happy and not happy.
I practically fell asleep in the theater the acting was so bad! All they did was get a couple of lines that became famous from the book, threw them together, and called it a movie.
Whew! It feels good to vent all that. But I must say, there were some things I did like.
1) Every scene with Edward's family was awesome; the kitchen (though it didn't happen) and the baseball game. Excellent and superb! Emmett, Alice, Jasper, and Rosalie were exactly how I imagined. Even Carlisle. Esme....ah....they could've done better but she was all right.
2) Charlie Swan. He was surprisingly funny and perfect as Bella's dad. He was exactly how imagined Charlie and his acting...awesome! Take notes from this guy Rob and Kristen.
3) The action. When it came to James hunting and trying to kill Bella it was great action. I knew how it turned out but I was still on the edge of my seat.
4) The cameo with Stephanie. Thought I hated the diner scene, I loved the little cameo with Stephanie Meyer there. If you missed it, it's the part where Bella meets Charlie to eat at the diner and the waitress gives Stephanie, and calls her by her real name, a glass of water before she goes over to Bella and Charlie.
Over all I 80% hated Twilight. The girls I went to the movie with did say I may need to see it again since my expectations of it may have been too high. They could be right. These are my first impressions and I wanted to share them since my gut reaction tends to be right on the spot.
If you saw the movie and loved it, I apologize for killing your buzz. Kudos to you for finding enjoyment in one of the very few movies I actually detest.
I will be going to the movie again...matinee of course...with Channy. I'm going to give it one more shot before making my final opinions though what I said sounds pretty final already. But if you loved the movie or hated it, you got to admit that the book is still better. My expectations of this movie were like that of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Da Vinci Code: I know it's not exact but it can still be good like all of those movies were. This was so horrible it doesn't come close. Hopefully round 2 will be better.

It's almost here!
Just two more days and the long awaited movie "TWILIGHT" will begin. A group of us young married women in my ward are going and are actually making a party of it by making T-shirts the night before and going to dinner right after we see the movie. I'm so excited! I was looking for pictures to do the invites with when I ran across some of these from the movie.
Now I know Robert Pattinson is NOT the Edward of my dreams, but he's starting to grow on me. He'll never be "my Edward", but he's okay for the movie.
Anyone have any good suggestions for T-shirt sayings? I know Kaytee, Liz and Nia gave me some good ones when I was up in Utah. Anymore? Let me know!

A Day in Utah
I know...finally! So here are the important pictures from my one day visit in Utah. Though it was short it was one of the highlights of our trip. We haven't seen our friends in so long and I was laughing nonstop! I also saw a side to my dad that I've hardly seen...and that would be his funny side.

Sometimes...I'm just cruel
Okay, I know that the reason why I have enemies, or those I like to call "jealous", is because of my sharp mouth and sometimes unforgiving nature. But, I also know that why I have friends, or those I call "smart", is for the exact same reason. Some people get me, others don't.
I am fully aware that sometimes I can be just plain cruel when I want. You could ask my parents, my husband but especially my students. When they are outright being disobedient I let them have it. I've only had to really be cruel about 3 times a year. My threshold for annoying teenagers is actually pretty high. Well one of those "cruel times" happened on Monday.
As you may recall from previous posts I must teach P.E. Laughable, I know. Anyway, the group I have is "Mixed Sports" so I decided to do a beach day in Kailua where the students could either play two-hand touch football, volleyball or swim; all of which are sports.
So we get there and they drive me nuts! They aren't staying in the boundaries I outlined, they keep trying to wrestle with each other when my back is turned and some of the girls show up in bikinis that would make Paris Hilton blush! I finally get them all in the school van and yell at them that if one person makes a noise on the ride back they're all getting an incident report (which is our version of demerits or detention). So they're quiet...mostly.
When I get to the school I park the car, turn around in my seat and scream my head off at them. I scold them for being disrespectful to me and the other staff there. I scold them for being a nuisance to the other beach goers. I yell at them for making me regret ever coming up with fun things to do for P.E. since they are such ungrateful, uncouth creatures and from now on it's laps and obstacle courses until the end of the semester. When I was done shouting I made them get out and clean all of the school vans. All 8. Inside and out.
They didn't finish until well after school was over. But, I didn't let them go. After they were done they went inside the school, emptied trash and cleaned the bathrooms. Then I had them get up today and publicly apologize to the rest of the students for embarrassing themselves and the school name at the beach. 3 out of the 24 I have cried (they were girls obviously). 4 called their parents and gave them their version. The parents called me up just now, I set them straight, and the parents were so mad they ended up grounding their kids on top of the punishment I gave.
Now that I've calmed down I can see how I was a bit cruel. I didn't have to make them do all that cleaning. The apology I stand by and even the vans. But the rest...I don't know. And then when those parents called it made me angrier. I did all of that and 4 of them didn't learn their lesson.
However, I have to keep in mind that 3 did cry and 20 didn't call their parents. So...I guess it worked for the majority. But this experience solidifies the fact that I belong in High School. Can you imagine me being this way with Elementary!? Can you say lawsuit?

Give Thanks...please!
Okay, so this post is going to be a bit of a rant. I've been debating with myself about writing this because I wanted my message to be clear yet not sound so witchy. But, if you know anything about me, being witchy is okay and it suits me well. SO here it goes!
We just finished Halloween; which for all intents and purposes is a holiday made to celebrate the dead. It's the one night, "All Hallows Eve", that supposedly lets the dead have contact with the living. If you follow Hollywood's versions, Halloween is the one night anything evil and disgusting can come kill you. If you follow Disney's versions bad people try to hurt you but then cool things like fairies and magical creatures come and save you. My point being that a lot of effort is placed into celebrating Halloween. Heck, we even dress up and eat candy and give out candy to other people for this "death" Holiday.
But right after Halloween, and I mean the second the clock strikes 12, all I see are light bulbs, stockings and Christmas decorations everywhere. It was November 1st and already people were ready to celebrate Christmas. What's wrong with that you might ask? Well, what the heck happened to Thanksgiving?!
Think about it. There's a Holiday every month...at least there is here in Hawaii because of some of our State Holidays. For November you've got Veteran's day and Thanksgiving. So why don't we celebrate it? Other than eating and getting fat I mean. We go from worshipping the dead to clawing for gifts! We completely skip over the one holiday meant to give thanks!
Some may argue that celebrating Christmas is better since it's worshipping Christ. No it's not! First of all, Christ was not born in December he was born in April. Secondly, if Christmas were about the birth of Christ would we really be killing ourselves to make sure the perfect tree was hanging in our homes, that the decorations were all up, that the food we're going to stuff ourselves with is prepared correctly, that the perfect gifts are bought for everyone? Nothing about the Lord in any of that!
To make a long rant short...probably too late for that...I ask, why are we so ungrateful? As American's we should be anything but! We are a part of the chosen land, meant to do great things and pave the way for the Lord's gospel. And what do we do with that responsibility? We sweep it under the rug as a nuisance and go on with our lives thinking other things are important; like our kids soccer game, the laundry, making sure our dessert tates and looks better than Sister so-and-so, and the ungrateful list goes on.
What happened to us? When did we overlook this great, all be it fake, holiday. Okay, so the Puritans didn't have a feast with the Indians exactly the way it's been told to us in school. But it's the message behind the holiday that matters! So please, to all of you who read this...make Thanksgiving a huge part of your holiday season this year; as big or even bigger than you're planning to make Christmas. Some of you already do that and I applaud you. I'm going to make sure I do it up big this year and I hope my rant has inspired you to do the same!

Mia's Halloween
One of my earlier posts was to show off my cousin Mia. I actually found out that since she's the daughter of my cousin that makes her my second cousin...but whatever. She's adorable. These are some pictures of her on Halloween as the cutest pumpkin ever!

Ode to Melinda
So, it's Melinda's, my sister-in-laws, birthday tomorrow...Nov. 4th. And seeing how it'll be overshadowed by the election, I decided to skip some of my other vacation pictures to show the baby blessing for little Talei.
Here's all of us. Rabici, Hauoli, Me, Melinda, Talei, my dad, and Aisake. This was taken right before we went to JaiCi's for her baby blessing. One last happy birthday for Melinda:
M.... Motherly (She's the best mom Talei could ever want)
E.... Energetic (Not only is she a mom but she is also a wife and a business woman)
L.... Loving (She loves my brother-in-law and our Vuikadavu ohana with all her heart)
I.... Innovative (She makes the most delicious mint cookies from her essential oils!)
N.... Nice (She's much more than nice, but I needed something with an "n"!)
D.... Delightful (She's always smiling and you can't help but be happy with her)
A.... Attractive (She doesn't have a pimple or a blemish! I'm so jealous!)
Happy Birthday Sister!

Just a quick note to wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween! I am Pocahontas today and will post pictures as soon as the days festivities are done! I hope everyone has a great day.
Oh! I also found these Halloween pictures that I wanted to share with everyone, since I'm such a Disney freak. Enjoy!

Vacation Chronicles...
Sorry about the super long lapse in blogging. I finally finished midterms so I am back on to the real world. I'm slowly getting to the day and a half we were in Utah but in the meantime, here are some pics we took while on the "Freedom Trail" in Boston. Rabici and I both love history so this was a fun day to go exploring the U.S. verison of History. (wink, wink) Enjoy!

Husband Tag
So I got this tag from Kaytee a while ago and am only now able to post it. Sorry! And my vacation pictures are taking longer to upload then I thought (I'm trying to throw it into a slide show so it's easier to see). Anyway, my tag for my husband!1. Where did you first meet? The awesome BYU-H Bookstore at super awesome BYU-H! (I’m being overly perky if you can’t tell)
2. How long did you date before you got married? I think it was almost 2 years. We got together in July of 2003 and didn’t marry until June of 2005.
3. How long have you been married? 3 years
4. What does he do that surprises you? It’s rare that Rabici will surprise me. Usually it’s by doing chores at a time when I don’t nag him.
5. What is your favorite feature of his? His nice, tight, washboard… smile? (he he he) He’s a rugby player so I like his abs and his backside… sorry if this embarrasses you honey!
6. What is your favorite quality of his? His ability to make and keep friends with everyone. He’s Mr. Congeniality. You can’t help but be friends with him the moment he smiles and talks to you. AND he always makes me laugh. Always; even if he doesn’t mean to.
7. Does he have a nickname for you? He usually calls me “babe” or “honey”. Typical nicknames. One thing he does tell me every night is: “Good night my sweet and beautiful wife”. I don’t deserve it, but he does tell me that every night before I go to bed.
8. What is his favorite color? Blue
9. What is his favorite food? Anything Fijian. And if there isn’t any Fijian food around, he’ll eat anything with meat in it. I call him my garbage disposal.
10. What is his favorite sport? Uh…is this even a question?
11. When and where was your first kiss? Our first kiss was on our first date. I’m not a skanky girl; we knew each other for a few months before that date. It was July 13, 2003. We had just seen a movie and he took me to Tantalus to “look at the view”. Sure honey, “the view”. Anyway, he kissed me while we looked out at
12. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Beach, Movies or just cruising in the car around the island stopping at places we haven’t been before.
13. Do you have any children? Wait…I thought our husbands were our children. Just kidding. Nope, none yet but I’m trying so back off!
14. Does he have a hidden talent? Yes, many actually. He can cook better than he gives himself credit for, speaks 3 languages really well and a couple others fairly well, and he makes EVERYONE he meets instantly like him. I’m still trying to figure out how he does that last one.
15. How old is he? 32. And I’m 26! Cradle robber!
16. Who said "I love you" first? He did! It was in the tent behind Nia’s house. Nia and I were camping in the back because her sister was visiting and needed our room. He came over to pick me up to go to a movie and he told me "I love you." in the tent. I said, “Thanks?” It freaked me out since we’d been together for barely a month. But a day later I snapped out of my stupidity and told him I loved him too.
17. What is his favorite type of music? Fijian (no surprise there), reggae, any kind of island jams
18. What do you admire most about him? Too many things to write! He’s patient with fools, kind to everyone, and never gets into fights though he could probably kill the other person. He’s tender and loving with children and humble about everything he does (always giving credit to the Lord). He can see into the very heart of a person and know your strengths and weakness BUT never judges them for it. He’s loyal and devoted to me in so many ways. Even when I’m wrong he’s by my side, helping me find my way back. He never yells and I can always count on him to cheer me up and make my life interesting.
He probably won’t like that I’m gushing about him (the humility will kick in) so I’ll add that he’s great in bed too! (he he he)
19. Do you think he will read this? Yes. He always reads my posts though he never, ever puts anything on them himself.
20. I tag: anyone who hasn’t done this yet!

Save me from the idiots...continued
I was at the gas station the other day and was already in a bad mood. I drove all the way out to Manoa just to find out that my class was canceled and I drove out there for no reason. A lot of people called in sick at work and I was stuck doing their jobs. So now I've got to fill up my tank (which will probably cost me $70) and go to my community service as a requirement for getting my scholarship money.
I'm at the Kalihi gas station with the 7-11 with it. It's one of those older gas stations where you have to put your credit card in the center and then get a reciept inside. So I fill up and go inside for my receipt. Here's what happened:
Kelly: Hi, can I have my receipt? I was at pump 2.
Idiot: How much?
Kelly: Oh, I already filled up I just need a receipt.
Idiot: I know, how much?
Kelly: How much what?
Idiot: How much is your bill! (she shouted this to me)
Kelly: If I knew how much my bill was I wouldn't be asking you for a receipt! That's why I gave you my pump number
Idiot: We don't do it by pump number! We do it by amount!
Kelly: Then you do it wrong! What if all 4 pumps outside were the same price and we all came in looking for our receipt? Then what genius?
She just stared at me and then her co-worker handed me the ONLY receipt there and apologized for her. I thanked him, glared at her one more time, and left. IDIOT! She better not reproduce; I don't want to have to teach her idiot kids.

The Vacation Chronicles, Day 1
So I finally have time to upload our vacation photos. I'm going to do this in chronological order as well as a little at a time so you can experience the vacation with me and I can reminisce on the good time I had. This first post is about the plane ride to Boston, Massachusetts. Now, I'm doing an entire post on the trip there for two reasons. First, it was Rabici's first time traveling past Utah and secondly, we had some good times.
This is a picture of the standby list we were on. If you squint you can see our names as Vui/K and Vui/R as number 5 and 6. Rabici had never flown stand-by before.
We had a lot of time to kill in the Atlanta Airport so we rode the train that took you from terminal to terminal. As you can possible guess people thought we were nuts or retarded taking a picture of a "black" man, in a train, giving a shaka sign.
Another funny thing that happened to us in the Atlanta airport were the stares. I warned Rabici that there would be people staring and that was only because they wouldn't know what I was; black, hispanic, italian, and believe it or not I've even gotten Native American. He didn't believe me until we got to Atlanta and the heads were turning.

Still on vacation
So... thanks for the comments on my post. I'm glad to hear that those I associate with are smart. It makes me happy. I'm still on vacation so I'm not able to really post on anything. I do have some funny stories but I'll save them for when I get back so I can do them justice.

Hawaiian savages
So, I leave for my trip to visit family today and I don't know how often I'll be able to blog so I wanted to write this funny story that happened to me in class on Tuesday. We were talking about culture (nothing can go wrong there right?) and how it influences education.
In other words, your culture places emphasis on what's important for you to learn. As an example the teacher talked about Samoans and how they place emphasis on the family. So coming to school isn't as important as talking care of your younger siblings if mom and dad can't.
So one of the guys in my class...let's call him Joe...because that's his name...has a wonderful insight. (I'm being sarcastic now) He's just realized that the reason why his Hawaiian students are "acting up" in his class, is because their CULTURE has taught them to be violent and lazy. After all, that's what all Hawaiians are.
I think it was one of the few times I actually envisioned myself beating the living crap out of someone. Instead i take a deep breath and try to stay calm. I raise my hand and explain how that's not true, Hawaiian culture doesn't teach laziness and that sometimes it's a teacher's attitude that determines student response.
He asks me, "How do you know it's not what they're taught? Hawaiians were savages for years. Look at Captain cook."
So I reply, "If some guy came floating on a ship to your place, pretended he was a God, slept with your girls, got food without working, let his men roam free and tried to take everything you owned, you wouldn't fight back?"
He says: "There's a difference between fighting back and murder."
I said: "Yeah, it's called loser and winner. Throughout all history, no matter the country, those who won the fight call it fighting back, and the losers call it murder. Look at the Traitors Revolt."
He goes, "What's the Traitor's Revolt?"
I tell him, "What England calls our American Revolution. There's always a winner and a loser and it's the former that writes the history books. The U.S. won so they write that Hawaiians were savages. And then gullible people like you are born, read it and believe it because you either don't have the mental capacity to understand it or you're so content in your ignorance that any information to the contrary would upset the perfect little bubble you've created for yourself about life in America!"
Now some of you might think I was harsh...I'm okay with that. I hope I educated Joe, but for some reason I think he went home and told his wife...if he's got one...that the mean savage yelled at him and he was scared that I'd attack and eat him like "my people" did to Captain Cook. I guess sometimes ignorance is bliss. Even to the point where you make asinine statements in a class full of graduate students.

Awesome Article
So, for my master's class on Monday's it's about Social and Cultural contexts of Education. Our professor gave us an article to read about I.Q. and how we've been measuring it wrong for a very long time.
I agree.
But what made this article stand out was the section that talked about one scientist, H.H.Goddard, and his view on I.Q. I decided to write about it because it's scary how much I half agree/half disagree with what he said. It's entitled:
"THE PROPER CARE AND FEEDING (BUT NOT BREEDING) OF MORONS".
I am soooo not kidding. That's the title. Here's a quote:
"If morons could control their own sexual urges and desist for the good of mankind, we might permit them to live freely among us. But they cannot, because immorality and stupidity are inexorably linked."
Isn't this awesome!!!!!! Now, I know I'm hard on the moron race, and seeing that I am too sometimes a moron it is a bit harsh. But you've got to admit it...if you've ever been ticked off by a moron, you were thinking this. You were sitting in your car or in your office thinking to yourself, "If only morons weren't allowed to reproduce."
I know you were thinking it, H.H. Goddard just said it. And now I am too.

Please save me from the idiots
So I was at the UH Bookstore the other day getting my books...obviously. I was standing in line and lost all hope for the youth of tomorrow. Normally I don't think of myself as so old, but since my IQ happens to be higher than the people standing in this line, it must be age.
Anyway, the following is the conversation going on in front of me; names have been changed because I didn't know them and my labels are better:
Idiot 1: Oh my gosh, I have to get my ID!
Idiot 2: I know, me too!
Idiot 1: They better not make my ID, like, so hideous.
Idiot 2: I know, me too!
Idiot 1: I hope the football team is cuter than last year.
Idiot 2: I know, me too!
Idiot 1: I wonder if the football team has to get ID's too?
Idiot 2: Me too!
Tired of hearing the idiots in front of me, I lean back, hoping to forget their mind-numbing conversation. Instead I get this; at first I feel bad because this is how the conversation starts:
Girl 1: I don't know if i can afford all this!
Girl 2: They've really raised the prices!
Girl 1: I know, my scholarship won't pay for all this.
Girl 2: You'll think of something.
So, i just got my scholarship money and I'm thinking, "If she doesn't have enough, i could help her out with some." Now those of you who know me, that generosity for a COMPLETE STRANGER is rare! Rare! But then my giving mood is halted: (Note how the girls are now Morons)
Moron 1: I know, i guess I could always ask my dad.
Moron 2: that's perfect! I'll ask my dad too!
Moron 1: But your dad already buys your stuff!
Moron 2: I know, but i want the white one of this.
Moron 1: I know! It's so cute. I think if i get just the hat with the cute boots I'll still be able to buy that bag I saw in Waikiki.
Moron 2: Oh! What a great idea! And if not, we'll just charge it!
Now my hands are in tight fists because I've got two idiots in front of me and two vapid morons behind me. I pay for my books and then get the heck out of there, terrified for the supposed "future of tomorrow". For the love of all that is holy, please save me from the idiots!

My first day of class
So yesterday was a lot of firsts for me; teaching the P.E. and going to my first class for this semester at UH.
Naturally the first day of class is going over the syllabus and introductions. My professor asks us to say a little bit about where we're from and what we do and then some thing interesting about us So the wheels are turning in my head and luckily I'm towards the end so I can think about my response.
I figure I've led a pretty interesting life so there's got to be something. But then the other people start talking and I realize that I suck. Here's why: the other students have done things like serve in the peace corps, built homes in Indonesia, volunteered in Antarctica or some such place to save the penguins, and the list goes on.
So now it's my turn and I am freaking out. I haven't built homes for the poor or saved a nation or solved world hunger! Who are these people that they have all this time to do these things?! I decide that that there's no way out of it so I've got to tell the truth.
This is what I said: "Hi my name is Kelly. I work at a Charter School in Kaneohe and like the rest of you I've been to other countries. I went to Fiji to marry my husband, the Philippines to straighten my hair and Hong Kong for the excellent shopping. Oh! and I also go to Disneyland every year because I was spoiled and have been going since I was five. Nice to meet you!"
Silence.
And then all at once every starts to crack up. The girls sitting next to me start touching my hair and telling me it looks natural and all this stuff. There are two married guys who are begging me not to tell their wives about the Philippines or Hong Kong because they can't afford it, and I know there are others in the room who think I'm a "spoiled twit" as my mom would put it.
But it doesn't faze me because I know who I am. I was spoiled when I was a kid, but not anymore. Everything I have I've earned by working my butt off, sacrificing and not taking crap from anyone. So, if that makes me "spoiled", okay.
I just thought this was the funniest first day of a graduate class that I've ever had and wanted to share it with all of you!

P.E.
This post is more about my thoughts more than anything else. I had to teach P.E. today...yes you heard me, "Physical Education." Now those of you who know me and have seen a recent photo of me know that I am not a physical person. But I got stuck doing it so there you go.
Anyway, my group is "Mixed sports" so we can obviously do different sports each week. Today we did kickball and some football. I was good at the kickball (only because I played soccer for a few years) and then I only watched them play football.
I forgot how torturous P.E. is! I mean for two and half hours, kids are FORCED to run around in the hot sun. I tried to make it fun and interesting for them, but they weren't having it. I couldn't blame them since I was done by 1:00pm and class doesn't end until 2:15pm.
So all of you out there who are P.E. teachers or loved P.E. when you were in High School, I have three words for you:YOU ARE SADISTIC.
Those are my thoughts. :)

My Twilight cast
I noticed a lot of people are unhappy with the Twilight cast for the movie. I wasn't really thrilled myself but I'm still excited for the movie. Reading people's ideas and comments made me think about the cast I'd have if it were up to me. So, I challenge/tag all of you who don't like the cast, don't like my pics, or would like to do it for fun, to do it.

Olympic Opinion
So, I don't know how many of you have been keeping up to date with the Summer Olympics but I've got a couple of things to say.
Usually I only watch the opening ceremonies because it's this big production and no one's competed yet so everyone's happy. I also like to see the uniforms each country has when they walk into the huge stadium.
This year I decided to watch a bit more than usual since every time I turn on the T.V. I'm hearing about how great the U.S. is doing because of Michael Phelps in swimming and so on. I wish I didn't. I became sucked in like everyone else to the point that I now have an opinion and am actually upset about a couple of things.
1) What is up with China getting first over Nastia Lukin when they were tied?! WTF! They got the same freaking score! Why does Ling lu la, or whatever her name is, get gold?
2) What is up with China getting gold over Jonathan Horton in male high bar?! China messed up twice and Jonathan's only deduction was the ONE step he took when he landed! Last time I checked one was less than two. Or do we not count that way in Beijing?
3) What is up with Jamaican runner Usain Bolt? This guys the most obnoxious winner I've ever seen. He actually slows down towards the end of a race, because he knows he's first, to slap his chest and throw his hands out! Is that how you say "Obnoxious Jerk"in your native tongue?
I am happy about the over all medal count and that we're kicking China's butt. Sorry for all you Chinese out there but in my opinion, your country is taking advantage of having the Olympics in Beijing and rewarding itself when it shouldn't. Just my opinion!

BIG NEWS TWILIGHT FANS
The release date for the movie “Twilight” has been moved from Dec. 12 to Nov. 21st!!! this is no lie and no joke. Apparently the movie “Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince” was supposed to come out but they’ve moved it to 2009.
So, “Twilight” has taken its place. And I quote:
"When Warner Bros. decided to move HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE to the summer of 2009, we saw a unique opportunity to slot in our film which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months," said Rob Friedman, Co-Chairman and CEO of Summit Entertainment. "We by no means are trying to fill the shoes of the incredible POTTER franchise for 2008, rather we are just looking to bring the fans of Stephenie Meyer's incredible book series the film as soon possible from a programming perspective."
So get out there and start spreading the word!!! Now!!

The Host
I have recieved emails and posts about this book and yes I've read it. Thanks everyone for suggesting! I actually picked it up when it was first released sometime in May. I do like it, though this book and the Twilight books do have one bad factor in common. They both star a whiny girl who irritates me in the beginning of the book.
Both Twilight and The Host take about 40 - 50 pages of suffered reading before it picks up and starts to get good. There may be some of you who disagree, but here's my proof. At the start of Twilight, Bella is going on and on about how sucky Forks is. And at the start of The Host, Wanderer goes on and on about how sucky it is to be inside Melanie. So, I suffered through both beginnings, but was rewarded in the end.
I would still recommend The Host to most readers. It's got just enough action, sci-fi, and love story to keep you going. I actually think it would make an interesting movie too. Ian and Jared sound just as awesome as Edward and the only reason I think that is because Ian sounds more "real" to me. Like he could actually exist.
And I know there are a lot of Edward lovers out there dying of heart attacks right now, but it's true. I actually like the love triangle she has going on in The Host; and just so you know, it's not at all irritating like the love triangle in Twilight. In The Host you actually like everyone involved and it all ends well. Anyway, that's my small plug for Stephenie's "other" book.

Midnight Sun
Attention all you Twilight fans! Fellow freaks of the series have let me in on the newest addition to Stephanie Meyer's website about Twilight. She has written a book called "Midnight Sun" and it is the story of Twilight from Edward's perspective. I think this will help my husband finally sit and read the books; if it's from the guy's perspective he might just give it a chance. (But I'm not holding my breath.)
Now, most of you probably already know about this and I'm sorry if I'm just saying something that is old. But for me, this is BRAND NEW INFORMATION! (Those of you who know the TV show "Friends", like Kaytee and Elizabeth, will know that I just quoted it)
Anyway, the first chapter is already released on her website, StephanieMeyer.com, and I am a huge fan of it. I actually like this perspective of Twilight since it explains Edwards side and how he sees Bella.
So, if you're interested go to her website and read the first chapter. I read it and can't wait for the rest to be released. I really like the way she writes and the view of Bella from Edward's perspective makes you fall in love with this series all over again!

Flat Tire = Happy Kelly
So yesterday Rabici got a flat tire on my dad's car. It wasn't his fault; there was a nail sticking out of the ground. Anyway, he had to change the tire and then drive it to SEARS to get fixed. So he called me because my car has the car jack in it. I left work to help him (not that I really could because I have never changed a tire in my life).
Since I was feeling pretty useless, and the last time I saw someone change a tire it was Nia and she made me hold the dirty, icky bolts, and I was traumatized from the experience...I decided to make myself useful and take some pictures of Rabici with his shirt off. This is a rare occasion because unless he's dancing, he NEVER takes his shirt off. I WANT him to take his shirt off so I can show him off.
Well, it was really hot yesterday and changing a tire is exhausting...so I've been told...so he took off his shirt. And now I get to brag about my husband. Yeah Me!!!!
